We think that there is a psychological effect there, because when we go to listen to EVPs, we are conditioning ourselves to listen to them. When we hear something, we also think that we get a little bit excited about it, even if we don't realize it. So during the initial EVP reviews, we think that we are in a state of mind were we might be more susceptible to auditory paranoia. When we go back to listen to them, the initial excitement is not there, and we have some heightened expectation of what we are suppose to hear. That is kind of why we added into the EVP training that we presented at the library with some useful information. It's why we have begun the practicing of not telling anyone what the EVP says. If it is class A, everyone is going to know what it says, such as “You guys from Detroit hate dancing." If it is class B, everyone is going to make up their own interpretation, such as "back off." This would be used with the client as well, to see if they are hearing the same thing.

I think that "pareidolia" was meant, not paranioa.
